If you have experienced rape or sexual abuse, however long ago, you may be experiencing some or all of the following:

  • You may feel that you are to blame for what has happened
  • You may find sleep difficult, or have nightmares
  • You might “relive” the event in flashbacks
  • You might feel depressed and tearful, even suicidal
  • You may feel angry
  • You might find day-to-day life too difficult to cope with
  • You might find relationships, especially sexual relationships, difficult
  • You may feel some of the above, or none; everyone copes with the trauma in different ways. You may have some of these feelings even if the event was a long time ago. Whenever it took place, your feelings are important
